What are Quartz Countertops Made Of?
-
Quartz countertops are not made of solid quartz, but a mix of 90% crushed granite, marble, natural stone, or recycled industrial waste, such as ceramic, silica, glass, and mirrors. The other 10% is a polymeric or cement-based binder that binds all the material. The mix of these materials gives quartz countertops the look and feel of stone.
Quartz countertops can include some amount of actual quartz, but they contain no solid quartz extracted from quarries. The 90% of stone-like materials that form the base of quartz countertops are all waste byproducts of other quarrying or manufacturing processes, which makes quartz an eco-friendly countertop option.

Tile your way to elegance
-
Ceramic tiles have porosity levels between 1% and 3% meaning they absorb water easily.
Whereas porcelain tiles are 99.9% non-porous.
Both porcelain and ceramic can be installed on the floors although it is recommended to keep ceramic tiles as a wall only option as ceramic can break easily.
Due to ceramics sponge like natural, if not maintained in a bathroom it can harbor moisture and mold, so its VERY important to kill mold when you see it.
With all that being said, ceramic tiles are the most common tile in a bathroom and that will not change. But knowing this will give you a clear understanding and may help you to decide what direction to go with your bathroom renovation.

Chic & modern essentials

Your vanity heights are determined by a couple factors:
1. Do you having an above mounted basin?
2. Or is the basin under mounted or inset?
Plumbers normally set out their water & waste points based on the vanity height sitting at 900mm/35.43” as that is the standard height of most countertops within a home.
You can check this by measuring your kitchen countertop.
If you choose to install a top mounted basin, your basin’s rim becomes the new fixed reference point, and the plumber will set the water points to suit.
So, here’s a pro TIP to consider when designing your bathroom:
If you are installing a FLOOR MOUNTED vanity paired with above basin. Your basin height will exceed the standard height range. Therefore, it is important to design around the standard that your basin rim/vanity height should always be around 900mm/35.43” from the finish floor height.
There are floor mounted vanity’s that are designed to be shorter to accommodate an above basin combination, so keep this in mind when planning.
As for the wall mounted vanities, the gap between the floor and vanity will just be shorter.

3 things you should NEVER do in a project renovation!
-
1.Hire the cheapest trade contractors/builders.
2.Risky DIY (Do It Yourself)
What does this mean: if you are not confident DIYer, don’t underestimate the work involved for a project renovation! Only complete tasks you are confident in and leave the rest to qualified professionals! Many contactors/builders will avoid dodgy DIY jobs from liability perspective so don’t dig yourself into this hole!
3.purchase items BEFORE planning? NO!
Don’t commit to purchasing any of your project’s items until you have thoroughly planned out your space!
